bob@ourcommunity.law

Bob is an attorney, community strategist, nonprofit advocate, and educator. He founded Our Community Law because he could and it matters.

Bob’s legal journey began in a big firm focusing on leveraged buyouts. By 2000, he transitioned to become general counsel for three software companies, overseeing their global legal affairs and facilitating their eventual sales.

Community service drives Bob. He founded and now serves as Chairman Emeritus of Social Venture Partners Dallas which blends venture capital strategies with philanthropy. He helped design and continues to guide United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Social Innovation Accelerator program. Since joining the UWMD board in 2017, Bob has chaired their Community Impact Grant Committee and served on UWMD’s Executive Committee. Twice appointed by the two Texas governors, he chairs the OneStar Foundation, which aims to strengthen the nonprofit sector in Texas and has served on the Texas Emerging Technology Fund Advisory Committee.

In addition to his legal practice, Bob is a senior lecturer in entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship at the University of Texas at Dallas’ Naveen Jindal School of Management.

While his schedule is often full, Bob always finds time for his three daughters, one son, twelve grandchildren, beekeeping, and a bit of piano.
